This Moong Dal Ka Halwa is ever famous Indian winter dessert; made by soaking blending Green gram split and skinned and then slow cook over low flame with clarified butter.

Directions

  • Wash green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) thoroughly and soaks in 3 cups of water for at least 4 hours.
  • Drain the water and blend soaked green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) into a thick paste, if require add little water.
  • Boil water and sugar (चीनी) in a deep sauce pan over medium heat, for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat. Add green cardamom (हरी इलायची) powder and saffron (केसर); keep aside.
  • In heavy bottom frying pan heat ghee (घी) and add green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) paste. Mix well. Cook green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) paste on medium heat until fully cooked. Keep stirring often, so that the green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) paste doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Your green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) paste take approximately 15 minutes to cook completely.
  • Lower the heat add sugar (चीनी)-water syrup into this cooked green gram split and skinned (धूली मूंग दाल) and cook cover for 2-3 minute or till water absorbed.
  • Garnish with sliced almonds (बादाम). Serve hot.
